A Self-Care Spa Day in Julington Creek, Jacksonville

You do not need a resort or a plane ticket for a proper spa day in Jacksonville, FL. A good one fits inside a single Saturday in Julington Creek: a quiet walk, a good coffee, a massage or facial, a long brunch and an easy afternoon, all within a short drive of each other.

This guide lays out that day hour by hour, with real prices for the spa part and a few of our favorite neighbors in Julington Creek, Fruit Cove and St. Johns for everything else. Use the whole plan or borrow the pieces that fit your weekend.

What does a spa day in Julington Creek look like?

The best self-care days have a loose shape and no rushing. Here is one that works. Shift the times to suit your own morning.

A sample self-care Saturday in Julington Creek
Time What Where
8:00am A quiet walk Julington-Durbin Creek Preserve or Alpine Groves Park
9:30am Coffee Ellianos Coffee or Starbucks on Race Track Road
10:00am A 60-minute massage or Classic Facial, then the infrared sauna RE Spa, 2750 Race Track Rd #101
12:00pm Brunch Julington Creek Fish House and Oyster Company or Metro Diner
1:30pm A class or a little shopping Rebel Studio or Social Grade Gift Boutique

Start outside: two easy morning walks

Twenty or thirty minutes of walking before a massage warms up your muscles and quiets your head. Two free spots are close by.

  • Julington-Durbin Creek Preserve. The preserve sits on the peninsula where Julington and Durbin creeks meet, with trails through sandhill and flatwoods. The main hiking entrance is at 13200 Bartram Park Blvd, and parking and entry are free from dawn to dusk. The longer loops run about six miles, so turn around whenever you like. The Julington-Durbin Creek Preserve page from Timucuan Parks Foundation has the details.
  • Alpine Groves Park. This 54-acre county park at 2060 State Road 13 has nature trails, a butterfly garden and a pier over the St. Johns River. It is free and opens at 7am. Bring your coffee and sit on the pier for ten minutes.

Coffee on the way

Keep it simple. Ellianos Coffee in St. Johns is a drive-thru on Harper Lane, handy when you are still in walking clothes. There is also a Starbucks on Race Track Road if you would rather sit for a few minutes.

One tip: drink water along with the coffee. You will feel better during and after a massage when you arrive hydrated.

The spa part: what to book at RE Spa

This is the center of the day, so give it room. A simple, complete visit has two parts.

  1. A 60-minute massage or Classic Facial first. With massage, you pay for the time and not the type, so Swedish, deep tissue, sports and prenatal all cost the same. Not sure which to pick? Read deep tissue vs. Swedish massage before you book.
  2. Then the infrared sauna. A session in our full-spectrum infrared sauna runs 20 to 40 minutes, and it is a calm way to finish. The sauna is private: you have it to yourself, or you share it only with the person you came with. Our guide to your first infrared sauna session covers what to wear and what it feels like.

Hot towels come with every massage, and aromatherapy and Therabody percussion therapy are yours on request at no charge. If you walked a few miles this morning, the Sugar Foot Scrub ($12) is the upgrade to choose: a sugar scrub and hot towels on your feet. The other options are in our guide to hot stone, cupping and massage add-ons.

“The infrared sauna is a game-changer.”

An RE Spa guest, from our Google reviews

Never been to RE Spa? Your first 60-minute massage or Classic Facial is $89.95 with our new guest offer, which makes this the least expensive Saturday you will ever plan.

How much is a spa day in Jacksonville, FL?

Less than most people expect, because you build it yourself. These are the prices on our spa services menu.

What the spa part of the day costs at RE Spa
Service First visit Member Non-member
60-minute massage or Classic Facial $89.95 $89.95 $119.95
Sugar Foot Scrub $12 $12 $12
Infrared sauna session $9.95 $9.95 $59.95

A worked example: a first-time guest who books a 60-minute massage, adds the foot scrub and tries the sauna pays $89.95 + $12 + $9.95, which comes to $111.90. A returning non-member booking the same three things pays $119.95 + $12 + $59.95, or $191.85.

If the sauna becomes a habit, packages bring the price down: 4 sessions for $59.95 or 8 sessions for $99.95. And if the monthly massage becomes a habit, an RE Spa membership is $89.95 a month with one 60-minute massage or Classic Facial included.

Where to eat afterward

You will be relaxed and hungry. Two good choices, depending on your mood:

  • Julington Creek Fish House and Oyster Company. In the Shops of Bartram Walk, with weekend brunch on Saturday and Sunday from late morning. A good pick for a slow meal with a friend.
  • Metro Diner in St. Johns. On County Road 210, with breakfast served all day. A good pick when you want pancakes at 1pm and no one to judge you.

Hours change, so check with the restaurant before you go.

An easy afternoon: a class or a little shopping

If you still have energy, keep the afternoon gentle.

  • Rebel Studio. A Fruit Cove studio on State Road 13 with yoga, barre and cycle classes. A relaxed yoga class pairs well with a massage day. Save the hard cycle class for another weekend.
  • Social Grade Gift Boutique. A gift shop on County Road 210 that personalizes items in-house. Browse for yourself or get ahead on birthdays and the holidays.

Or do nothing at all. Going home for a nap is a perfectly good ending.

Making it a day for two or a group

The same plan works with a partner, a sister or a best friend. Before you book, check these four things:

  • Book a couples massage so you are in the same room. The standard couples room is included at no extra charge, and the Couple’s Suite is $10 per person. See how couples massage works at RE Spa.
  • Share the sauna. It can be booked together with a spouse, friend or family member.
  • If both of you are new, each of you gets the $89.95 first-visit rate.
  • Treating someone? A gift card can cover their half. Our spa gift card guide shows what each amount pays for.
